Interview with W. N. Peach concerning his experiences as a professional economist and as one of the principal persons in the Rainey controversy at the University of Texas (1944-1945). Peach discusses his sympathies for the New Deal labor legislation, being accused of pro-Communist leanings, the role of the Dallas Morning News, the investigations by the Board of Regents and his dismissal, his support of President Homer Rainey, and the role of the AAUP.

Homer Price Rainey (1896-1985) was born in Clarksville, Texas, where he grew up in a poor farming family. He was valedictorian of his class at Lovelady High School in 1913.
